About the team
The Senior Data Engineer role is all about collaborative synergy within the team. Working hand-in-hand with developers, architects, and machine learning engineers in an agile environment, you’ll spearhead the integration of third-party data platforms. Your main tasks include integrating external data platforms, creating different types of data pipelines, and improving products with smarter services. You’ll work within scrum teams, solving problems and handling large amounts of data. This is a chance to use the newest big data tech on an advanced platform and be a key part of the team’s innovation!
Responsibilities
- Designing, creating, and managing data pipelines from various disparate sources.
- Peer reviewing other team members’ code.
- Attending stand-ups with key stakeholders, communicating development status, and raising any potential risks early.
- Producing clear and concise documentation where required.
- Inspiring the team to add personal value to projects and follow standards and best practices.
- Searching for improvements on existing implementations in line with the strategic vision of the department.
- Leading technical meetings for both stakeholders and engineers.
- Regularly reviewing key processes, ensuring they are being used or identifying improvements, and working closely with the TA, BA, PO, and SMEs to see this to completion.
- Participating in recruitment and onboarding new joiners.
Requirements
- Extensive previous software/data engineering experience.
- Experience with Data Warehousing, ETL, Data pipelines, and Lakehouse.
- Knowledge of Python (Java or Scala is a plus).
- Experience with RDBMS, Columnar, and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.
- Hands-on cloud computing experience on AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka or Pulsar is a plus.
