We are recruiting on behalf of one of our partners for a Software Engineering Team Lead to join an established engineering team working on a core gaming platform.
This role sits at the intersection of people leadership and technical delivery. You will lead a team of Java engineers, support technical decision-making, and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, scalable backend solutions in a fast-paced, international environment.
Your responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers, supporting performance, growth, and engagement
Run regular 1:1s, contribute to performance reviews, and guide individual career development
Oversee the design, development, and delivery of backend services within a gaming platform
Collaborate closely with product managers and architects to align technical delivery with business priorities
Ensure engineering best practices across code quality, scalability, security, and maintainability
Review and approve code changes, maintaining high technical standards across the team
Identify and proactively remove delivery roadblocks
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in staging and production environments
Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement
Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to tools, processes, and architecture
What we’re looking for
Proven experience as a Team Lead or Senior Java Engineer in a backend-focused environment
Strong hands-on experience with Java (Java 11+), Spring Boot, and modern backend technologies
Demonstrated experience designing and operating scalable backend systems in production
Solid understanding of software development best practices and design patterns
Strong communication skills and experience working cross-functionally
Experience working with Agile methodologies and leading sprint ceremonies
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes is considered a plus
Previous experience within iGaming or other high-volume transactional platforms is advantageous
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international setup
