Team Lead – Backend Development (Casino)

About the Role

We are hiring for a Team Lead – Backend Development (Casino) on behalf of our client, a fast-growing B2B iGaming solutions provider.

As a Team Lead of Backend Development, you will take ownership of designing and implementing scalable, high-performance backend systems that support millions of real-time transactions within the iGaming ecosystem. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage a team of backend developers, contribute to architectural planning, and ensure top-tier performance and quality standards across all backend operations.

You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless system integration and drive continuous improvement, resilience, and innovation across the platform.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor a remote team of backend developers.

  • Align backend strategy with business goals and the product roadmap.

  • Conduct code reviews and provide continuous feedback.

  • Manage hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews.

  • Facilitate regular team meetings and effective communication.

Culture & Conduct

  • Act as a role model and promote the company’s values and standards.

  • Foster a team culture based on trust, openness, and collaboration.

  • Promote innovation, creative problem-solving, and constructive feedback.

  • Manage conflict resolution and support change management.

Backend Architecture & Development

  • Define and maintain backend architecture for scalability and reliability.

  • Lead backend system and API development.

  • Oversee integrations with third-party platforms and payment providers.

  • Guide performance benchmarking, load testing, and optimizations.

  • Ensure secure coding and compliance with regulatory standards.

Operational Excellence

  • Establish testing, documentation, and debugging best practices.

  • Promote a knowledge-sharing culture through documentation and tech talks.

  • Represent the backend team in cross-functional meetings.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of backend development experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in iGaming, fintech, or high-traffic online platforms preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in backend languages such as Java, Golang, Node.js or Rust.

  • Familiar with backend frameworks like Spring or Express.

  • Experience with cloud platforms: Oracle Cloud, AWS, GCP, Azure.

  • Strong knowledge of RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis, Docker, GitLab CI/CD, WebSocket, etc.

  • Deep understanding of SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases.

  • Solid grasp of microservices architecture and event-driven systems.

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud, MySQL HeatWave, or machine learning integrations.
