Management Accountant

Hybrid ( Malta )

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly-organized Management Accountant to join our clients growing business and Finance Team. In this position you are going to play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of the organisation by overseeing various aspects of accounting, such as processing supplier invoices and payments, conducting bank reconciliations in multiple currencies, as well as actively contributing to the preparation of financial results and collaborating with external auditors.

This is a flexible role, with a hybrid work model, where you will be required to come to the office in Malta twice a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining selected general ledger accounts and ensuring assigned balance sheet and income statement general ledger accounts are reconciled monthly

  • Posting supplier invoices to the accounting system

  • Preparing and processing payments to suppliers

  • Reconciling supplier statements on a regular basis

  • Posting bank transactions and reconcile the banks in multiple currencies (including crypto) and multiple entities on a weekly basis

  • Managing inter-company accounting and inter-company reconciliations

  • Assist with the preparation and review of the businesses financial results to strict deadlines.

  • Working closely with the Finance Manager to understand the impact of Operational performance on results

  • Completing technical accounting calculations

  • Preparing quarterly VAT submissions in a timely manner relating to the entities under the responsibility of the role.

  • Assisting in the preparation of compliance reporting such as Tax

  • Maintenance of fixed asset register, calculation and posting of depreciation

  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations

  • Assisting the external auditors with audit requests, preparation of various audit schedules and resolving any issues identified during the testing procedures.

  • Providing additional analysis and financial support to Senior Finance Management Team as needed, for standard and ad hoc reporting requirements

  • Supervision and active mentoring of a Finance Assistant 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Management Accountant or similar role in a complex business environment.

  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Having experience with VAT submissions, tax reporting 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Fluency in English – both written and spoken. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritise effectively and keep tight deadlines.

  • Experience supervising, mentoring and coaching junior team-members

  • Based in Malta, with availability to come to the office twice per week.
